The "S" Word

You are here

Sin. The S word. Not a word we hear much these days. In fact, sin is a lot like the proverbial elephant in the room. Standing there for all to see, but mentioned by no one. Yet we experience the devastating effects of sin every single day. Hurt. Pain. Suffering. Addiction. Abuse. Alienation. Guilt. Shame. Broken relationships. Shattered dreams. So during this Lenten season lets get real when it comes to the gravity of our sin so that we can more fully experience the amazing grace of God expressed to us in the gift of his Son Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Dealing With Our Own Sin

  • What is your favorite way to deal with your own sin (i.e. hide it, rationalize it, excuse it, defend it, blame shift, etc.)?
  • Why do you think we tend to treat sin on a sliding scale?

The Remedy for Sin

"Here we are. Here we are.
The broken and used, mistreated, abused.
Here we are."

"Here you are. Here you are.
The beautiful one who came like the sun.
Here you are."

What is Sin?

This morning we begin a brand new series that I think fits well with the Lenten season that we're in and that will take us right up until the week after Easter. It's a series that we're calling The "S" Word. And on our website we describe it like this...
